I plan to build Bierlift 2.0 with all functions. What do I need to buy in addition to the parts from the online shop?

What actually speaks against producing the milled parts via 3D printing as well?

The plastic parts don't have anywhere near the strength of HPL, so I wouldn't do it. The stresses in a fully loaded bierlift should not be underestimated.

Can the milled parts also be milled from aluminium?

The beer lift made of 6mm aluminium panels will be much too heavy. The density of the HPL material is in the range of approx. 1.4 g/cm³, aluminium 2.7 g/cm³. The power supply from the parts list will go into safety shutdown if the motor current increases too much. For the construction from thinner sheet metal, many constructive adjustments have to be made.

I want to make all the milled parts myself. Where can I find information about milling depths?

On Thingiverce.com all parts are also available in 3D STL format and therefore all depths are measurable.

Can the parts "Printed Parts Bierlift 2.0" also be printed from ABS?

Bierlift 2.0 printed parts are not subject to particularly high mechanical loads. Theoretically, they can also be printed from ABS.

Where can I find the complete parts list?

The complete parts lists can be found in the chapter BOM or Excel.

Where can I download the STL files for polyamide parts PA1_BL2, PA2_BL, PA3_BL2 and PA4_BL2?

CAD data for these components are not published.

I have broken part XX on the beer lift assembly. Is it possible to buy the part separately?

How long should the 250 KG tube be? Should I shorten it?

Do not shorten the tube! 1m is the nominal length specified by the manufacturer. The actual length of the KG pipe is approx. 1.13m.

My KG tube is much shorter than 1.13m. Can I still use it for the beer lift?

In this case, the socket plug should not be inserted all the way and should be fixed with silicone. The distance from the upper edge of the pipe to the floor should not be less than 1.12m (better 1.13m).

Which glue should be used for gluing hoses and magnets?

I did it with superglue.

 

 

Is it possible to continue using the already buried KG pipe from the "old" beer lift for the new version 2.0?

Yes, that's how I did it.

 

 

How much do you have to tighten the M3 screws on part PP2_BL2?

M3 screws on the PP2_BL2 parts must be tightened very lightly so that the 35 mm tube can no longer be pushed by hand. If you tighten the screws too much, the pressure parts will break.

How much do you have to tighten the M8 spacer nut on the motor shaft?

The M8 spacer nut must be hand-tightened. The drive concept of the beer lift is designed so that the M8 spacer nut tightens by itself under the lift's own weight.

When I reassembled it, I noticed that the lift hangs in the air about 1 cm inside the tube. Is it supposed to be like that?

Yes, in the down position the inside of the beer lift should hang on the top cover. This closes the beer lift securely regardless of the KG tube length and the condition of the seal.

Bierlift 2.0 Control and WebServer

Do you also provide the "basic data" of the web server?

The source code from the web server will not be published for the time being.

Is there perhaps a way to integrate the beer lift into my SmartHome without Blynk? HTTP commands?

You can use the following HTTP commands in your home network to integrate the beer lift control e.g. into your smarthome control or to control the beerlift with apps like HTTP Shortcuts.

  •  http://IP/api?action=2  -> fast start up
  • http://IP/api?action=1  -> normal startup
  • http://IP/api?action=0  –> Stop
  • http://IP/api?action=-1 -> normal shutdown
  • http://IP/api?action=-2 -> fast shutdown
  • http://IP/api?state  -> current status
  • http://IP/api?t  -> both temperature values
  • http://IP/api?t1  -> Inside temperature
  • http://IP/api?t2  -> Outdoor temperature

 IP must be replaced with the IP address of your Bierlift webserver.

How do you control the beer lift with a push button?
  • press 1 x – UP/ Down/ Stop
  • press 2 x - fast startup/shutdown (if option Enable high speed mode is activated)
  • press 3 x - WiFi module of ESP32 is restarted
  • press 5 x - ESP32 will be restarted
  • press 10 x - Reset to factory settings

 After each stop and subsequent start, the direction of travel is changed.

 Example:

  • Press 1 x - beerlift moves up
  • Press 1 x - beerlift stops
  • Press 2 x - beerlift descends quickly
Does the Bierlift 2.0 control also work with 24 V motors?

The control unit was designed for 12V motors. Higher voltages can damage the current sensor.

The water level sensor shows Level High and Low reversed. How can it be changed?

To change the switching mode of the water level sensor, carry out the following steps:

  • Pull off the lower circlip with pliers
  • Pull off the float, turn it 180° and put it back.
  • Fit circlip

Note: since version v.2021.02.10a it is possible to inventory the signal under option "Water".

How can DFPlayer mini be integrated into the "old" beer lift control system?

according to the following connection diagram. Rx to pin 19 (GPIO19) and Tx to pin 18 (GPIO18).

Is it possible to access the memory card directly via the web server?

no, DFPlayer mini does not have this function.

To which ESP32 pin is the push button connected?

At pin33 (GPIO33) according to the following connection diagram.

To which ESP32 pin is LED Strip WS2812b connected?

At pin23 according to the following connection diagram. In addition, the strip is to be supplied with 60 light-emitting diodes with 5V and min. 12W voltage.

To which ESP32 pin is the water level switch connected?

The water level switch is connected between PIN34 and 3.3V. In addition, a 10k resistor should be soldered between PIN34 and GND.

How is the push button with 5V LED lighting connected?

A 3-wire cable is soldered to the pins marked in the picture. The black (or white) conductor should connect two contacts.

Can the beer lift also be controlled with a remote control?

Yes, since Bierlift WebServer version v.2021.06.03a it is possible to couple a 433MHz remote control with the control. To do this, the control unit must be extended with the RX470-4 receiver module. Control boards from version 2.7 have a slot for the receiver module.

The receiver module can be connected to the older boards according to the following circuit diagram.

How is a remote control paired with the control unit?

After you have added the 433MHz receiver module to your controller, do the following:

  • Press any button on your remote control (e.g. button 1).
  • The code should be visible in the "Last Code" field. Copy the code
  • 3. insert the code in the field "Button Code 1
  • 4. select a function for the button in the "Action" field
  • Repeat steps 1-4 for the other buttons on the remote control.
Why do I need the spring with the 433MHz receiver?
this is an antenna that can optionally be soldered on to extend the range.
 For me, it works quite well without an antenna. You are not that far from the beer lift when you need a drink.
One LED on the ESP32 development board is permanently red. Is this normal?

Yes, this is a "power LED". It always lights up when the board is supplied with power.

Location and use

Which location is best suited for the beer lift?

If possible, choose a shady location for the lift.

Are there any empirical values regarding the temperature in the beer lift?

Below are the temperature records of my beer lift. On the first picture are the outside (yellow) and inside (blue) temperatures from mid-April to mid-March this year. On the second picture are average temperatures from April to July last year. My beer lift has a "sunny spot" that is not optimal for cooling. On very hot days, the temperature can go up to 18-19°C. Therefore, one should choose a shady location if possible.

Below is feedback from other beer lift users from 2020.

How wide and how deep should the hole for the beer lift be?

Ich habe das Loch ca 1,1m tief mit einem 300mm Handerdbohrer gebohrt und mit einem Spaten aufgeweitet. Je breiter das Loch ist, desto einfacher ist es den Bierlift auszurichten und einzugraben.

Do champagne flutes also fit in the Beer Lift 2.0?

Yes, thanks to round pockets in the bottoms, even larger bottles can find their place in the beer lift.

Is the chosen seal sufficiently watertight?

The seal provides sufficient protection only against splashing water. The rainwater must not rise higher than the screw holes on the edge of the KG pipe.

Do the rack and gears need to be lubricated somehow?

Polyamide has excellent sliding properties and, in my opinion, does not need to be lubricated. After several months of intensive use, I could not detect any signs of wear on the components.

Is it allowed to enter the construction?

    Ich würde den Bierlift gerne bei uns im Garten einbauen und mit Siri steuern. Gibt es auch ein Tutorial für Siri oder bedarf es für die Nutzung keiner weiteren Einstellung?

      um den Bierlift mit Siri steuern zu können, muss eine Blynk Verbindung, wie in diesem Tutorial beschrieben ist, konfiguriert werden.

      Anschließend kann man nach diesem Tutorial Siri konfigurieren. Die Kurzbefehle sollen wie folgt aussehen:

      Allerdings gib es aktuell einen Hacken. Der Entwickler der Blynk App hat eine neue Plattform Blynk 2.0 entwickelt und wird voraussichtlich bald die alte Plattform deaktivieren. Alle Nutzer, die sich früher registriert haben, können noch die alte Plattform (wie lange noch?) nutzen. Die neuen Nutzer können sich nicht mehr registrieren/anmelden.

      Ich werde demnächst prüfen, ob der Bierlift Webserver mit der neuen Blynk Plattform arbeiten kann. Falls ja, wird es ein Softwareupdate mit einem neuen Siri Tutorial geben.
